Spanning the Ohio River with views of downtown Pittsburgh, this project provides a new passage for pedestrians attached to the existing 1920’s era span.

The new crossing springs from gathering spaces at the river’s edges. At one side a stepped platform and boat dock provide views back to the city and a stage for public performances. At the other side a modest stopping point affords rest and views downriver.

The new pathway merges with the geometry of the existing structure while establishing a new public space, a platform suspended within the steel arch.
